Amir Williams is the Co-founder and CEO of #Out’N’About. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from George Mason University in 2016 (Criminology, Law & Society, concentration in Homeland Security, and a minor in Intelligence Analysis), Amir decided to switch paths. Having spent three years working with young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), Amir recognized the benefit of and need for these young adults to have meaningful social experiences. In the summer of 2016, Amir partnered with his mother, Felicia, to create #Out'N'About.
Although #Out’N’About is still gaining momentum in the DC/MD/VA area, Amir has big plans for this organization and hopes that it will one day have a global impact. Amir currently lives in a Fairfax, VA group home as the resident assistant for his amazing roommates with IDD.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY
“Though my background is not in education and human development, I have witnessed, firsthand, a positive impact when young people with IDD have regular social interactions and feel included in a peer group. They seem to become more confident and independent and I feel fortunate and honored to be instrumental in helping to improve their quality of life. I try not to focus on their disabilities and would rather keep in mind that these are young adults, who want to have interaction, experiences and fun with friends–just like any other person in our age group.”
